Subtle high frequencies

The most essential component for reproducing detailed high frequencies is a light diaphragm. Compared to dynamic models of the same diameter, the D8000’s diaphragm is ⅓ lighter. A super thin aluminum coil has been etched onto the diaphragm, eliminating the need for an adhesive between the coil and diaphragm–which has a negative effect on sound quality. 

Air Film Damping System 

In conventional planar magnetic headphones, the low frequencies often drop off, resulting in weak bass extension. The D8000 solves this problem with the Air Film Damping System (AFDS). An Air Film between the diaphragm and the magnets works to extend bass frequencies and boost the low end.

Easy to repair

Repairs, mods, and upgrades are simple with the D8000. Almost every part was designed for easy disassembly. If something breaks, even a small internal part, you can easily disassemble the housing and replace or repair it. 

Manufactured in house

final controlled the entire manufacturing process of the D8000, from sourcing raw materials to assembling the product at their factory in Kawasaki. Even the jigs used in production were produced by final, ensuring a high level of precision when manufacturing the individual parts of the headphone. 

Newly developed open-type ear pads

With most open-back headphones, bass frequencies are difficult to boost because they leak out of the back. Using AFDS and open-type ear pads, the bass frequencies of the D8000 has been boosted wonderfully. The ear pads are made of highly-breathable foam and specialized fibers, with a supple Toray ultrasuede for the parts that come into contact with skin.
